Audit

Most educational institutions regularly have external inspections or audits looking at teaching practice (OFSTED, ISI or external examiners),accounting and financial practices, fire safety and physical security. Despite the resources invested in the infrastructure, few institutions have ever commissioned an external ICT audit.

OXACT can audit or review (all or part of) your current ICT infrastructure. The areas usually reviewed in a complete audit include:-

  • The institutional strategy for ICT
  • Administrative systems ( student/pupil Records, finance, library and alumni)
  • Facilities (teaching, lecture rooms and libraries)
  • Policies (Internet, E-mail, software and security)
  • IT Staff (management, skills, training and organisation)
  • External Web Site (strategy, design and management)
  • Networking (voice/data, email and internal/external connectivity).
  • Hardware (PC’s, servers and printers) and software (operating systems and applications )
  • Security (firewall, virus and spyware protection)
  • Procurement practice

Charges for a full infrastructure audit are fixed depending on the size of the institution and include a clearly written report and management presentation in plain, rather than technical, English. An example of an executive summary of this can be seen here.
